Amity School, Bharuch witnessed Seminar on “OPEN YOUR EYES UNDER THE SKY” organised by PRL (Physical Research Laboratory) to understand the basic idea on how to perform “SKY GAZING” and what do you mean by “ECLIPSE, TRANSIT and OCCULTATION”.

PRL aims at harnessing the knowledge of research in selected areas of Physics, Space and Atmospheric Sciences, Astronomy, Astrophysics etc to reach out to students and teachers on the key issues related to these subjects. Almost 250 students from different schools of Bharuch district participated in the Seminar that took place at Amity School, Bharuch which provided a platform to discuss and deliberate the excitement of Sky Gazing and Astronomy.
Present on the occasion were Mr. SANDEEP RAUT and Dr. VINEETA NAVALKAR (Scientists of the PRL).  Apart from the main speakers Mr. PRAKASH MEHTA (Campus Director, AMITY SCHOOL) and other senior dignitaries of the school along with teachers and students were among the spectators.
Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad is one of the most popular research centres for Physics, Astrophysics, Solar physics and Geophysics, established by renowned scientist of India Dr. VIKRAM SARABHAI. It is also known as the cradle of Space Sciences in India. Every year PRL organises Seminar for STD 11th and 12th Science stream students in leading cities of Gujarat to develop interest in space research. Hence the focus of the Seminar was to communicate to the students and the teachers about the basic ideas on How to perform Sky Gazing and What do we mean by the terms Eclipse, Transit and Occultation.
Dr. Vineeta Navalkar informed children about the simple techniques of sky gazing. She also explained the different geographical events taking place with the example of GPS, whereas Mr. Sandeep Raut introduced the different activites taking place in various departments of PRL. Both the scientists also had a conversation session with the teachers of Amity School. They said that in every class there is a Vikram sarabhai and Homi Bhabha sitting, we teachers have to just nurture their potential and show them the way. Disciplined students are the talented ones is a myth. Developing India’s foremost need is to develop laboratories which will not only increase the rationality of the students but also build up their persona.
